Disney Channel’s Jump In! is the 68th Disney Channel Original Movie. Jump In premiered last January 12, 2007 and was able to break the record of The Cheetah Girls 2 as the highest rated Disney Channel Original Movie. Jump In reportedly garnered 8.2 million viewers on its premiere and a user rating of 6.7 in the Internet Movie Database.
Corbin Bleu played as Isadore “Izzy” Daniels, one of the main characters in this film. Izzy is a star boxer and is considered as a popular guy at school. His goal is to be able to follow his father’s footstep that’s why he works hard to be able to win a Golden Glove.
However, Izzy encountered a career dilemma when he was asked by friends to help them out in a jumping rope competition. His friends learned that he has the skills to join the contest on a certain incident and that made them decide that Izzy would be a perfect part of the jumping rope team Joy Jumpers. However, for Izzy’s side, joining a jumping rope team could mean disaster. He was too worried on what the other guys at school might think about him once they discover that a boxer like him would join a jumping rope contest.
In the movie, Izzy seems to have a special feeling for his friend, Mary Thomas. Mary is a member of the Joy Jumpers and one of the people who tries to convince Izzy to help the team. There are instances in the movie that shows that there is a chance for these two to develop a romantic relationship.
Life for Izzy was never easy because of his rival Rodney. Rodney is a school bully and a competitor for the Golden Glove. Izzy beat him on a certain match but he did not accept the defeat lightly. That’s why when he discovered that Izzy has a passion for jumping double dutch, he took this chance to make life miserable for Izzy.
